Hey {{first name | reader}},

Happy Wednesday!

Today we have something a little different: the first edition of Where to Go Wednesday. And for this one, let's talk about Stockholm.

I have only visited Stockholm once in my life, but I was honestly amazed by it. It quickly became one of my favorite cities in Europe, and I cannot wait to go back.

The city feels calm, elegant, clean, and beautifully designed without trying too hard. The water is everywhere, the architecture is beautiful, the food scene is great, and there is this very specific Nordic energy that I just loved.

Here is the thing: I was expecting something closer to Helsinki or Oslo. More functional, more understated. Stockholm is nothing like that. Everything has this almost royal quality to it, and I was not prepared for how beautiful it would be. Sorry for my limited knowledge of Scandinavian cities before the trip, they are a long way from home. 😄

Stockholm is built across islands, so the whole city has this mix of urban life and water that feels very different from most European capitals. You can be walking through the old town, then along the waterfront, then in a design shop, then in a museum, and somehow it all feels organized and peaceful.

It is not the first European city most people think about for a summer trip, and I think that is part of why I liked it. Stylish and interesting, but not as obvious or as crowded as Paris, Rome, or Barcelona.

If you go in summer, the long days are a huge part of the experience. On the longest day of the year, Stockholm gets roughly 18.5 hours of daylight, with sunrise around 3:30 AM and sunset around 10:05 PM. The night never gets fully dark.

That is magical when you are exploring the city. Less magical when you are trying to sleep and your hotel has bad curtains. Which brings me to the hotels.

Here's what's inside today's post:

  • At Six: where I stayed, and what I thought

  • Grand Hôtel Stockholm: the classic luxury option

  • Nobis Hotel Stockholm: the design middle ground

  • Bank Hotel: boutique with a spa twist

Let's get into it.

At Six: where I stayed

At Six Stockholm lobby

When I visited, I stayed at At Six, and I had a very pleasant experience.

At Six is not an over-the-top palace hotel. It is not trying to be old-world luxury with chandeliers everywhere. It is much more of a stylish city hotel with Nordic luxury touches: clean design, good materials, a strong sense of place, and a polished but not flashy atmosphere. For a city stay, it works really well. Always keep in mind: 5 stars does not mean luxury.

For example, for June 19 to 20, 2026, a Standard King Room with courtyard view prices at around $357 per night, with free cancellation until 4 PM on the day of arrival.

By booking through us, we can include:

  • Daily breakfast for two

  • $100 hotel credit per stay

  • Welcome amenity

  • Room upgrade, subject to availability

  • Priority check-in and check-out, subject to availability

For a stay at around $357 per night, getting breakfast for two and a $100 credit changes the value of the booking significantly.

Grand Hôtel Stockholm: the classic choice

Grand Hôtel Stockholm

If you want the classic top hotel in Stockholm, this is the one I would look at first.

I visited the lobby when I was there, and it was beautiful. This is the grand, historic, proper luxury option in the city. It has that feeling of importance that very few hotels manage to pull off without feeling stuffy. Grand Hôtel Stockholm holds two Michelin Keys and is recommended by Forbes Travel Guide.

For the same sample night, June 19 to 20, 2026, the entry level Superior Room starts at around $754 per night. Worth noting: the entry room is around 20 sqm, which is on the smaller side. But the potential upgrade makes it worthwhile.

Virtuoso perks include:

  • Daily breakfast for two

  • $100 food and beverage credit

  • Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability

  • Early check-in and late check-out, subject to availability

This is obviously a big jump in price from At Six. But if you want the classic Stockholm luxury hotel experience, Grand Hôtel is the one.

Nobis Hotel Stockholm: design and value

Nobis Hotel Stockholm Nobis Suite

Nobis feels like a very good middle ground: stylish, design-forward, well located, and with a more reasonable price tag than Grand Hôtel. It is a member of Design Hotels and holds one Michelin Key, which always makes me pay more attention.

For June 19 to 20, 2026, a Small Double room prices at around $397 per night, with free cancellation until two days before arrival.

Perks include:

  • Daily breakfast for two

  • Room upgrade, subject to availability

  • Early check-in and late check-out, subject to availability

  • Wi-Fi

  • €50 food and beverage credit

Good value, good design, and a very pleasant stay for someone who wants style without spending Grand Hôtel money.

Bank Hotel: boutique with a spa twist

Bank Hotel Stockholm

Bank Hotel is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and also holds one Michelin Key. I like the idea of this one a lot.

One thing to be aware of though: there is an entry level Vault Room (the one you can see in the picture) for around $470 for the sample night we are using, and it has no window.

I understand the logic. When the sun rises at 3:30 AM and sets at 10 PM, a windowless room can help you actually sleep. But personally, I like having windows. So I would choose the Elegant Classic Room instead, which comes in at around $513 per night and has a courtyard view.

Perks for Bank Hotel include:

  • Daily breakfast

  • 500 SEK (around $54) food and beverage voucher

  • Welcome gift

  • Free entrance to Sturebadet Spa

  • Room upgrade, subject to availability

  • Early check-in or late check-out, subject to availability

The spa access alone makes this interesting for anyone who wants to build a more relaxed stay.

So where would I stay?

For best overall value: At Six. For classic luxury: Grand Hôtel Stockholm. For design and a fair price: Nobis. For something boutique with spa benefits: Bank Hotel, but not the Vault Room.

Hotels can make or break a trip. Not because you always need the fanciest suite in town, but because the wrong hotel, bad location, disappointing service, rooms that do not match the photos, can take away from everything else you have planned. Knowing which hotels are worth it and which are not is more valuable than most people realize. And with added perks on top of a good choice, like breakfast, credits, upgrades, it gets really interesting. That is exactly what we are here to help with.

Stockholm is not the cheapest city in Europe. But it is one of the cities I am most eager to return to. And with the right hotel booking, breakfast, credits, upgrades, and proper recognition can make the stay feel much more special without paying significantly more.

If Stockholm or any other city is on your list, reply to this email and we can help you choose the right hotel and book it with the best available perks.
