It is that time of the month again. Air France and KLM Flying Blue has published its latest Promo Rewards, which means discounted award pricing on select routes for another month.
Today we are looking at two things: the new Flying Blue Promo Rewards for August, and a very interesting AAdvantage update that just went live.

Flying Blue Promo Rewards are monthly discounts on select award tickets, usually 25% off the normal saver-level award price. Let’s focus on premium economy and business class, though you may find some nice economy deals as well.
Long-haul premium economy deals worth checking:
Europe to and from Las Vegas: from 30,000 miles one-way
Europe to and from Mexico City: from 30,000 miles one-way
Europe to and from San Diego: from 30,000 miles one-way
Europe to and from San Francisco: from 30,000 miles one-way
Europe to and from New York: from 30,000 miles one-way
Europe to and from Fortaleza: from 37,500 miles one-way
Europe to and from Shanghai: from 37,500 miles one-way

Now let me do the math on the 37,500-mile options, because I think it tells a very good story.
Flying Blue miles can sometimes be bought for around $16.90 per 1,000 during promotions. Using that as a reference point:
37,500 miles x $16.90 per 1,000 = around $634 worth of miles Plus roughly $330 in taxes and fees Total: around $964 per person in premium economy
Lets choose Shanghai. The same flight in cash can cost around €1,668, which is approximately $1,920. I am comparing to Premium Flex because it is the most similar fare to a premium economy award. You are saving nearly $1,000. That is meaningful, especially on long routes like Europe to San Francisco, Johannesburg, Shanghai, or Mexico City where premium economy fares get expensive.
Now for the part I am most excited about: business class.
Long-haul business class deals worth checking:
Europe to and from Bogotá: from 63,750 miles one-way
Europe to and from Cayenne: from 63,750 miles one-way
Europe to and from Libreville: from 63,750 miles one-way
Let me run the same math:
If you want to fly to Bogotá, you will need 63,750 miles x $16.90 per 1,000 = around $1,077 worth of miles. Plus roughly $500 in taxes and fees. Total: around $1,577 per person in business class
The same seat in cash can cost around $3,725 (or 3,227 Euros, again comparing to a Flex ticket, which is the most similar one). That means you are saving roughly $2,150.
Now, that does not automatically mean you should book. Flying Blue can have high taxes and fees depending on the route, and availability can be limited. Always check the specific dates and compare the full out-of-pocket cost against the cash fare before transferring any points. But when the numbers line up like this, it is hard to ignore.

The second update is a very useful one.
Oman Air awards are now bookable with American AAdvantage miles. Oman Air joined oneworld in 2025, but American only added award redemptions now, which means you can finally use AA miles to book Oman Air flights through AAdvantage.
Why is this important?
Because Oman Air can be a very useful bridge between Europe, the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia. It is an underrated airline with a good product on the right aircraft, and having it available through AAdvantage opens up some interesting options.
Some examples of what you can book:
Muscat to Southeast Asia in business class: from 40,000 AAdvantage miles
Europe to Muscat in business class: from 42,500 AAdvantage miles
Muscat to India in business class: from 30,000 AAdvantage miles
US to Muscat or the Middle East in business class: from 70,000 AAdvantage miles
This is especially interesting because Qatar Airways and Etihad award space can be frustrating depending on the route and program. Having another good Middle East option bookable with AA miles is a welcome addition to the toolkit.
The main thing to watch before booking: always check the aircraft. Oman Air's Boeing 787 business class is very good, with spacious Apex Suite seats that are a proper lie-flat product. But some Oman Air routes are operated by 737s, and that is a completely different experience. Never assume the aircraft based on the airline name alone.
My take
Flying Blue Promo Rewards are worth checking every single month. As always, compare the full award cost plus taxes against the cash fare before transferring points. The math will not always work, but when it does, it can be very compelling.
Oman Air through AAdvantage is the more interesting long-term update. It will not be the perfect solution for everyone, especially travelers starting in North America where the routing gets complicated. But for trips involving Europe, the Middle East, India, or Southeast Asia, this adds a very useful new option.
And the lesson, as always, is the same: the best redemptions are not just about the number of miles. They are about knowing which routes, aircraft, programs, and taxes make sense for your specific trip.
