Hey {{first name | reader}},
Happy Monday!
Today's email is a little different because I have an announcement to make.
I am leaving on Wednesday for a pretty big trip. And because I will be traveling for most of the next month, I want to change the newsletter a little while I am away.
I will probably be writing twice a week instead of three times, but I think the emails are going to be really fun.
Points Master is coming with me
Over the next few weeks, I will be traveling through Spain and East Asia, including China, Japan, and Korea.
And instead of only writing about points news, promotions, and deals from my desk, I want to turn part of the newsletter into something closer to live travel updates.
We will still cover the important points and miles news. If there is a good points sale, an interesting award opportunity, a program change, or something Points Master members should know about, I will cover it.
But I also want to show you how I use everything we talk about here while I am actually traveling.
A little preview of the trip
The itinerary is a pretty fun one. I'm starting in Spain for a wedding, and from there the real Asia trip begins: Hong Kong → Beijing → Shanghai → Tokyo → Kyoto → Osaka → Seoul. After Korea, I'll head back to Madrid for one final night before flying home. So over the next few weeks, there will be a lot of different flights, hotels, trains, lounges and experiences to share. It's also a great mix of places I've been excited to visit, and I'm looking forward to showing you not just the trip itself, but exactly how I booked and planned everything along the way.
I will share the flights I am taking, the hotels I am staying at, how I booked them, what I paid, which points or benefits I used, and whether I think I got good value. I will tell you about the lounges, airline seats, hotel upgrades, breakfasts, credits, and elite benefits.
Basically, I want you to see what a Points Master trip looks like from the booking to the actual experience.
Finding a 60,000-mile business class award on your computer is one thing. Sitting in that seat a few months later and being able to tell you whether I would book it again is another.
The same goes for hotels. We talk all the time about Preferred Partner rates, points redemptions, upgrades, breakfast benefits, and hotel credits. Now I can show you how those things actually work across several hotels in completely different countries.
And since I will be moving around quite a lot, there should be plenty to talk about.
But I want your help
I know what I find interesting when I travel, but I want to know what you want me to report back on.
Do you want to see exactly how I booked every flight? Complete breakdowns of points versus cash? The airport and lounge experience? Hotel rooms and upgrades? Breakfasts and hotel benefits? What I would do differently after taking the trip? Or are you more interested in the destinations themselves, the restaurants, the activities, and what I think is worth doing?
Reply to this email and let me know.
Seriously. I will be reading every reply before and during the trip, and I will use them to decide what to photograph, test, keep track of, and write about.
Think of the next month as a live Points Master trip report.
Wednesday is when the adventure starts.
This month is going to be a fun one.
Catch you in the clouds,
Tomi from Points Master
